contrary to the last review, more than adequate for the top medical students
I disagree with the last comment. No textbook can possibly incorporate all data in the field (since half of that data is contradictory), the aim is to give a good review of the topics covered. This book achieves this very well and as far as exams go "the high honours" students will definately find everything they need to more than ace the psychiatry part of the exams.
Perhaps different if you are doing an honours degree specifically in psychiatry, but that is only because the data for such a degree won't even be in textbooks yet.
Basically this book gives essay style reviews of the topics covered... with further reading references at the end of each essay style chapter.
suitable for undergraduates
well written, clear, accessible and balanced in terms of information, this is very suitable for undergraduate medical students. I felt that the principles and practice of pysychotherapy could have been explained a little more. Perhaps not enough for the high honours student, but perfectly adequate for less elevated species.
