Customer Reviews

very comprehensive and easy to understand3
one of the best written by watson, explains the fields of spectroscopy excellently and useful for for beginners. i myself found it enjoyable but there could have been better illustrations in the text apart from that theres not much to criticise, a big thumbs up to the authors!

Excellent revsion aid!4
I found this text book extremely useful. It complemented the relevant module of my degree perfectly, it is easy to understand and great value too.

Excellent for practical write-ups and exam revision. Everything I needed to know was right there, easy to find, and in just the right amount of detail. The worked examples are especially useful for exam revision.

I would definately recommend buying this text book if you are looking for a comprehensive reference text for GC, HPLC, UV-VIS spectroscopy, NMR etc. as part of a pharmacy degree.

Practical aid ( in every sense )4
Would I buy it? No......I spent around 3 hours in the university library, illegally photocopying around half the book!!! It IS quite pricey...and on immediate impressions it wouldn't seem to be good value -this is it's major bad point. However, for those of you who aren't quite the dab hand you were at A-level maths, in each topic they have numerous worked examples of calculations, plus small exercises at strategic points of the chapter, which I strongly recommend you go through; the confidence it gave me in tackling my exam was a big plus ( pity they didn't go through the answers step by step, though! ) Another plus is that there is a breakdown of the chapter at the start of exactly what is covered -good for 'quick reference'. Nice 'reader - friendly' print with nice illustrations; it is also one of the few books available combining various aspects of analytical chemistry, such as UV/ IR/ HPLC/ GC/ NMR spectroscopy.
