Anatomy and physiology presented in a clear and accessible manner for the midwifery student. Well illustrated with numerous line diagrams, Anatomy & Physiology in Maternity Care takes a system-approach to the physiological changes that occur throughout the childbearing year. Varied case studies reflecting the latest research findings ensure that theory is firmly rooted in midwifery practice. This is an excellent first textbook for those students needing to understand the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and childbirth

Review
"This book will provide the student midwife with a valuable resource for demystifying biological concepts and recognizing their relevance to midwifery practice. It will provide a firm foundation on which to build as they progress through the midwifery programme." "Marion Simpson Med RM RGN, Senior Lecturer in Midwifery, University of Huddersfield"
Customer Reviews
An excellent basic text for midwifery students.
Since finding this book I have encouraged student midwives to use it as a basic anatomy and physiology text. It is written in fairly simple language so that students with a limited biological background can understand the principles of anatomy and physiology. Unlike many anatomy and physiology books, it also refers to the changes in the body during pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period. I would also recommend this book to qualified midwives as a revision tool.
Brilliant tool for Students and Midwives
What a fantastic book!!!
As a first year student I am finding the language used in this book at a level that i can understand (a bit simpler than 'coad').
If you only what to buy one book then this is your one.

I found this book helpful for certain aspects of midwifery.
It has information on pelvice floor, pelvis etc.
