Product Description

Packed with practical tips and advice for the podiatrist, this unique book gives students, practitioners and other healthcare professionals working with the diabetic foot fresh insights into the role of the podiatrist in diabetic foot care and the many ways in which outcomes for diabetic foot patients can be improved.

Using a very practical approach with case histories and clinical tips, Podiatric Assessment & Management of the Diabetic Foot describes how podiatrists can accurately assess and efficiently manage the diabetic foot, and looks at how podiatric care should be adapted according to the type and stage of foot being dealt with. Detailed management programmes geared to all types of patient from low risk to high risk, clear guidance on when to seek the advice of other members of the multidisciplinary team, and special consideration of the podiatric management of particularly challenging sub-groups of diabetic patients are just some of the areas covered in this handy volume. The rationales behind all podiatric treatments for diabetic feet are clearly discussed, along with detailed descriptions of techniques and procedures, many of which have not previously been written about in podiatry books.

With full colour throughout and many invaluable photographs from the author's own collection, Podiatric Assessment and Management of the Diabetic Foot is written specially for podiatrists by a podiatrist, but will be also be an essential purchase for all healthcare professionals involved in the field of diabetic foot care.

Excellent book, very well presented, clearly written and backed
up with pertinent and informative colour pictures., Concentrates on the
clinical management of the diabetic foot and utilises case studies to
highlight the main areas. Highly recommended.

Footprints, October 2006
"It would be a useful reference book for an in-depth understanding of the potential foot problems that face the diabetic patient."

Podiatric Assessment & Mgt of the DM Foot Book Review4
I found this a very helpful book, which is in the form of a pocket sized book which is great. The layout of each topic is very clear and concise, and easy to follow and read. The text is supported with great pictures not only of varying foot conditions but also of treatments and numerous footwear availale for the diabetic foot. Not only does the book cover treating the diabetic foot, but it also covers extra issues that Podiatrists require to know about such as psychologoy, communication and dealing with death. It also covers new roles for podiatrists such as MDT teams and research. A very useful little book indeed.

A must for podiatrists& others who manage the diabetic foot5
An excellent pocket book by the diabetic foot guru Ali Foster
The book contains not just clinical management advice / guidance for those involved in the care of the diabetic foot , but also addresses issues such as how to give professional presentations, and how to deal with the bereaved family.
A well illustrated book with the advantages of being pocket size with a plastic cover! A must for all podiatrists involved in the management of the diabetic foot and for podiatry students too.....

A great book, but over priced.4
I have to say Alethea Foster is and for the time being a leading light on diabetes and it's surrounding problems in Podiatry. And this is the only element that goes in her favour. Other than that, this book is over priced. Merriman's or Neales gives a much broader aspect and interpretation of diabetes in Podiatry and the surrounding problems. This book is only for those clinicians who treat ulcerations and surrounding high risk patients who like everything in a small pocket book. Other than that there is very little in this book that has not been highlight in Alethea Foster's other books or in Neales or Merriman's.
