Excellent for student s and qualified midwives alike!5
I am a first year student midwife, and this book has been invaluable in helping me to learn how to interpret cardiotocographic traces, which are such an important part of life as a midwife. It is easy to read, has excellent diagrams, and clear, concise explanations. This book should be on every students' reading list.

You can't beat the real thing!2
The CTG's in this book are often unclear, the details of the client are limited, and the focus is purely on 'the labour'. Care described in the book is often outdated, I mean when was the last time you saw presure readings taken from INSIDE the uterus!!! Not in this country; not anymore!

I bought this book to help with CTG interpretation, but to be honest you can't beat looking at the real thing, when you've got a qualified Midwife with you to help you make judgement calls about it.

My advice....save your money and just get your hands on as many REAL CTG's as possible. Learn how and more importantly WHEN to use them, and when to leave well alone!
