2008 BMA Medical Book Competition Awards:
First Prize Paediatrics
Prepared in conjunction with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), MRCPCH MasterCourse has been constructed as a comprehensive package for trainees facing professional examinations in paediatrics and child health.
Career paediatricians sitting the full MRCPCH examination will require the boxed set. This comprises volumes 1 and 2, a DVD containing video clips of clinical scenarios, and PIN access to a website with self-assessment and further learning materials. This provides all the learning materials required for successful completion of the MRCPCH parts 1 and 2 and MRCPCH Clinical.
For candidates sitting the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) exams and doctors with a primary-care interest in child health, Volume 1 will be sufficient.

Customer Reviews
Good text but so so pricey!
I used this to study for my written DCH exam, at a time when there was a bigger discount from Amazon. I passed without attending any other courses. I liked the layout, the fact it seems up-to-date and comes from the folk who write the exam. If only it wasn't so expensive.
The DVD is helpful, especially to candidates who aren't constantly working in paediatrics (e.g. GP trainees) and who need to revise practical procedures and examinations, especially the developmental assessments. However, at the time of my written exam (Jan 08) the website was very disorganised and therefore didn't contribute much to the learning process.
In summary, it's an attractive resource, with the obvious benefit of being billed as the "official" pack for the exam. However, I have colleagues who've faired just as well by reading Lissauer etc. and attending courses. Be sure to shop around for the best price.
rubbish
What a waste of money. Bought this book for DCH revision. Full of useless fluff. My advice - do not bother.
