Average customer review:Product Description
As health and social care organisations respond to the health modernisation agenda, the use of integrated care pathways in mental health is fast growing. Care pathways which detail expected multidisciplinary interventions within a care experience and use variances to monitor care and facilitate quality improvement have been emerging throughout UK mental health services over the last few years.
Although advocated in health policy their introduction has been generally uncoordinated. Integrated Care Pathways in Mental Health is a timely gathering together of the recent developments in the field. It combines discussion of relevant and developing theory, with accounts of real time developments in practice.
The combination of knowledgeable discussion and credible experience of the contributors make this is an innovative text which will be of great value to those who are challenged with developing mental health care.

Pathways in practice
This book is excatly what the title says, it is based upon looking at specific care plans related to patients with mental health needs. The book introduces the need for intergrated care pathways (ICP) which would allow interprofessionals to map out the care a patient may require through their treatment.
The book goes into detail about the need for ICP, giving rationales for why they would work and also looks at the legal aspects that may involved. As well as this it also looks at lCP's that could be used in particular settings which are currently available for example, an ICP for Clozapine from the Doncaster and South Humber PCT. The book also includes examples of care pathways for topics such as self harm and for the older patient.
This book is easy to follow and to is laid out in a simple straight forward making it easy to read and understand. Having examples of actual careplans makes it easier to understand what is meant and allows you to know what to expect in practice. This is a very good book for health care professionals working in this particular field of nursing.
