good stuff4
the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that i haven't actually been examined on any pharmacology yet so I'm delaying my total endorsment. However, I have used this book and find it very helpful. As with all the excellent master medicine series, the emphasis is on the understanding of the core principles rather than an overload of repetitious and panic causing minutiae. The end of section questions are brilliant.

Ideal revision aid 4
This books is from the series Master Medicine and is aimed specifically for medical students. The book is designed to teach the reader about medications used for particular illnesses, their side affects, how they work and what patients should or shouldn't be prescribed them.

Unlike normal pharmacology books this is set from more of a clinical setting, therefore instead of listing the medications and side affects etc it looks at a medical condition and what drugs may be used in treating it.

The book is spilt into chapters, each looking at different areas. Topics covered include analgesics, antibiotics, cardiovascular system and drugs used in pregnancy. Throughout the chapters, there are 'clinical sketches' these are brief examples of a patient on particular medications and a problem they may have with them. They allow the reader to think about what they would do and how they would solve the surrounding issues.

The best thing I like about this book is the fact at the end of every chapter is a self assessment, which allows you to reflect on what you have learnt, making it an interactive book and an ideal revision aid.

A useful book4
This is a useful book which contains information that is useful for prescribing on the ward and in exams. It doesn't get too bogged down in the details of pharmacology, instead it focuses on things you need to know.
