Not EJD's best work but interesting nevertheless.
Previous fans of EJD will surely agree that this book is unlike any of his previous works (which are all 5 star!!!).

I detected a slight desperation in his writing that I never felt before that at times left me dazed and confused. Still, it was a brave move to leave behind a tried and tested formula and EJD should certainly not be penalised for attempting something new. The main female character is as unlikable as any modern day "baddie" and this is probably why I could not stop reading this book. This book is sexually explicit but if you don't mind a break from the normal boy meets girl books with minimal or purely sensual sex adventure then this book is for you.

Be prepared to delve into a menage a trois that could surely only exist on paper!!!!!

EJD deserves respect for this effort, but I await a return to his previous form eagerly.

If you have not read: Sister Sister, Friends and lovers, Milk in my coffee, Liars game then what are you waiting for????? Get reading!!!

Weak
I am a big fan of Eric Jerome Dickey and I went out to buy this one immediately it was available. I was very disappointed. The book seems out of character for EJD, his unique style shined through, but the content feels very rushed. Did his publisher give him a week's deadline?

The book at times attempts to lift itself through the sexuality of the characters but it just ends up in the gutter. The characters lacked any realistic depth and the plot feels as if it was scribbled on the back of an envelope.

For those who haven't read anything by this author, try Milk in my coffee or Liars Game. EJD I hope you can get back to your best.

The Attractions and Problems of Open Bisexuality
Caution: This book contains a great deal of explicit heterosexual and lesbian sex. The book's language is also filled with explicit sexual imagery. There is also coarse language in many places. If such things offend you, you should definitely avoid this book. You will find it a one-star effort.

Intensity. That's what's special about this book. Anyone reading Between Two Lovers will feel their emotions being crushed by a vise several times the size of themselves. Whether you agree with or disagree with what the characters are doing, you will find yourself being drawn into their compulsive world of love and love-making. Once again, Eric Jerome Dickey has turned the written word into a compelling experience with life.

Between Two Lovers will be most appealing to those who are wondering what it is like to be permanently inflamed by love, women who have wanted to experience physical love-making with other women, and those who are wondering how you can cool a harmful passion. The plot seemed quite realistic and thorough in addressing all of the perspectives that will come to bear: religious, familial, desire for children, how to please two people at once who are in competition, and the siren call of greater sensual pleasure.

After you finish this book, step back and think through what your core values and beliefs are. Use the story to test yourself on what you would have done differently from the three main characters of the unnamed author, Nicole, and Ayanna. If you are older, you might also want to think about what you would have done if you were Nicole's mother or the author's father.
