The Witches of Eilanan/Dragonbane
The beginning of a fantastic series. This initially starts with the story of Isabeau & Meghan, I love the way Kate describes the Pagan festivals so well, she has really gone and researched Witchcraft extremely well. This is one of the best books related to the craft I have read.
The characters are introduced to you individually telling a little about them so you can picturee them in your minds eye, Kate draws you in to this story so impeccably. There was not a great deal of action in this 1st book and she definitely leaves you hanging on wanting more and with 5 more books you get much, much more. This could, I guess be read as a stand alone but, my guess is you will want to read the rest of the series.
Absolutely fantastic!
I can't put it down! It is like I have two lives.
This book is so wonderful. I have a hard time finding books that are at my reading level and stil capture my intrest, this is the one, it is heaven on earth! I have two lives: one is a little girl living in Illinois, the other is a sorceress in Eileanan! I recomend the second book, The Pool of Two Moons, and I can't wait for the last book!
Fascinating! I've never read anything quite like it!
I consider myself to be a feminist, and I love the charactors. Isabeau is a kindhearted dreamer with a strong spirit...almost the exact opposite of her twin sister, Iseult. Scruffy, the boy thief, and his newfound friend, Tomas, the healing boy, were adorable. I could not put the dang book down! Whoever said they almost screamed when they saw the back page, well I DID scream! I didn't even realize it was over. I finished a page, turned it, and- COMING SOON IN JUNE 1999! My best friend and her mother looked at me and laughed when I told them what was wrong. Although the plot was complicated, I had no trouble figuring out what was going on. I enjoyed the language as well. I had to translate for my friend when she read it. This is definitely one of the best books I have ever read and I can't wait for the sequel!
