Accessable academic feminism
Okin looks at contemporary issues and schools of thought in political theory at the time of writing (mid-late eighties). Can be seen as a sequal to Women in Western Political Thought, which deals with classical/enlightenment thinkers.

Although this is focused on acedmic debates in political thought this book is perfectly accessible to newcomers to the field. Part of this is her writing style, which i found very entertaining yet suitably to the point. It is also partly down to her liberal (as opposed to radical) approach, so may not be for everyone who is interested in feminism.

Gets five stars as she totally converted me to her way of thinking and made me (a man) a feminist.
