The aim of the book is to outline glacial landforms and sediments and to provide the reader with the tools required to interpret glacial landscapes. Additions include a new chapter on Glaciations around the Globe, demonstrating the range of glacial environments present on Earth today and a new chapter on Palaeoglaciology, explaining how glacial landforms and sediments are used in ice–sheet reconstructions.  Like the original book, text boxes are used throughout to explain key concepts and to introduce students to case study material from the glacial literature. Newly updated sections on Further Reading are also included at the end of each chapter to point the reader towards key references.  The book is illustrated throughout with colour photographs and illustrations.

i got this book last year, 'just in case' i needed it and it was my best buy so far out of my 3 years ive been at uni. i use this book ALL the time. it has really clear and precise explanations and uses simplified diagrams to back up their explanations. this is a must have book for anyone who is studying environmental science, geography or geology!

An excellent introduction to glaciers and glacial landforms
An introductory textbook for undergraduates on glacial processes and landforms. This book is subtitled, somewhat misleadingly, "ice sheets and landforms", but nevertheless provides coverage of processes and landforms associated with all types of glaciers. Athough relatively sparcely referenced, the text provides an accessible introduction to many of the complex aspects of glaciation that are poorly covered elsewhere. In particular, the final chapter explores the challenges associated with interpreting glacial landscapes. The book is highly readable, and includes numerous case studies that bring the subject matter alive.
