Thorough and understandable
Benson's University Physics is one of the best textbooks I have read about physics. It contains solid explanations and numerous examples concerning each topic. It's only fault is that it is inconcise (hence 4 not 5 stars), but it makes up for that in understandability. There is a hefty amount of excercises, questions and problems at the end of each chapter, probably more than you will ever need. If you would like to learn basic physics the right way, buy this book, although I would not recommend it for the faint-hearted.
