Product Description

Tàijíquán Wúwéi is a focus on the natural process rather than the results acheived through dedicated taiji practise.

Wee Kee-Jin calls upon his many years of professional experience and deep self study, to produce this guide for the journey of taiji. Containing multiple layers of detail, it is an appropriate reference for beginner students through to experienced practitioners.

The first part of the book details the principles common to all forms and styles, with an emphasis on understanding the changes that create the movements.

In part two Jin translates the classic taiji texts and provides further explanations of his interpretation.

About the Author
Wee Kee-Jin is the principal instructor of the Tàijíquán School of Central Equilibrium based in Auckland, New Zealand, having immigrated there from Singapore in 1991. He is internationally recognised as a senior instructor of the Huang Sheng-Shyan system and is in ongoing demand by schools and associations in Europe and Australasia, providing regular workshops and camps.

Considering himself a lifetime student of tàijí, Wee Kee-Jin appreciates that personally living and training full time with Grandmaster Huang, was an opportunity granted to only four others.

Clear and profound. An essential guide to progress.5
Wee Kee Jin was a live-in disciple with the renowned Yang style Master Huang Sheng Shyan, one of only four students ever to have this privilege. Master Huang, a senior student of Master Cheng Man Ching, was perhaps one of the most accomplished practitioners and teachers of Tai Chi in the twentieth century.

The book discusses training the three levels of Tai Chi:
The Human level, i.e. the physical accuracy required for posture and movement.
The Earth level, where the movement of chi within the body is cultivated when practicing the form.
The Heaven level, where partner work/pushing hands is used to cultivate sensitivity(listenting), understanding and spiritual clarity.

There is an explanation, with photographs, of the exercises for developing "fa jing", or the releasing of energy, required to completely uproot an opponent.

The last section is a translation and detailed commentary on the Tai Chi classics.

The book is very readable, free of mystical jargon and ephemeral expanations. It reflects Wee Kee Jin's refreshing no-nonsense scientific approach to the teaching of Tai Chi.

I highly recommend this book to practitioners of any style or school of Tai Chi.

A 'unique' explanantion of Tai Chi essentials5
I am yet to come across any other book that so clearly and simply explains the essential aspects of Tai Chi. The authors approach is like Tai Chi itself: simple, direct and profound. The translations and discussions of the Tai Chi classics - which are devoid of any mysticism - are an essential reference for anyone drawn to understand more deeply this wonderful art. I highly recommend this book to all students of the Tai Chi way.
