Not small, and perfectly formed
This is an example to the miniature score printed music genre. Firstly it isn't all that miniature. It has a nice shiny cover, white paper, and proper black notes. The Brandenburg Concertos are universally loved and following them with this beautiful score is very worthwhile.
It is not too cluttered - room enought to write "Ritornello" and "Episode" between systems - and uses the autograph MS score, bequeathed to the Berlin gymnasium, execept for No. 5. The unorthodox harpsichord cadenza in No. 5 must have caused confusion, and this uses originals from the Berlin Royal Library. Care has been but into notes on questionable crotchets and curious quavers, and after the obligatory quote from Albert Schweitzer, the music begins. Perhaps it is worth mentioning that there are bar numbers and it is published in full score. Even for No.5's harpsichord cadenza it remains in full score. Figured bass appears wherever it is appropriate.
I am delighted with my choice and it makes my musicological homework that little bit nicer. Perhaps I am a bit deficient in the perspective department, but I have carried it around in my luggage for the past few weeks - such is my attachment to it.
