Product Description

This is the story of Ancient Egypt as it was revealed to the world - a succession of discoveries and treasures. The book provides a trip through the golden ages of archeaology in Egypt, from the discovery of the Rosetta Stone in 1799 to the Golden Mummies in 1999. The discoveries are presented through archival images and extracts from notebooks, diaries and published accounts of excavators. Some finds are world famous, such as Nefertari's tomb and King Khufu's royal boats, others are less well known and they include the Ferlini treasure with its cache of gold and the jewels of Egyptian princesses unearthed at Dahshur.

GOOD PLACE TO START IF INTERESTED IN ANCIENT EGYPT4
This book is probably one of the best places to start reading up on Egypt. The first few pages gives you a quick summary on each of the Dynasties in chronological order. It then goes on to tell the story of the ancient discoveries in Egypt from 1798 until 1999, each discovery has its own chapter and the chapters are also in chronological order, which makes this book easy to read. If you have ever been to Egypt and think it is one of the most wonderful places on earth then you will enjoy this book. It is so fascinating to read that surprisingly some of the greatest discoveries have only been found recently in the past ten or twenty years even though people have been exploring there for 200 years, and there is still probably so much more to find.
