Product Description

Set in the year 2099, this is a futuristic parable, a lively narrative with serious intentions. A wise-cracking reporter from the North American bloc describes a community in the Eurobloc in despatches back home, alternated with the diary of his guide in the East Anglian community.

Customer Reviews

A wildly provocative glimpse of tomorrow5
I thought this book is up to the standards of Walden II and Brave New World...but the involvement of artificial intelligence was really frightening. The stuff of nightmares!

A highly plausible view of Tomorrow's community5
Right after reading this book I was not sure it was a dream or a nightmare! Then, as I began to think more about it, I thought it might be a place where I would like to live. But then I like theatre- as well as THE Thatre. And 2099 is full of drama. Could make a good movie, I think.

2099 will show you an alternative way of life.5
In 2099 I have tried to portray a better world, not a perfect one. This Eutopia is one of the rare UTOPIAN works of a highly dystopian 21st Century. The problem we all face is how to avoid the variety of potential nightmares in the 21st Century: cultural vacuity, economic bankruptcy, political corruption, multi-national greed, genetically perverse manipulation, malign artificial intelligence...even cyborgs!

2099 portrays the possibilities of a markedly different world: an integrated, communal one where people are involved in a genuinely creative process, where they experience ecstasy, where money no longer plays any role in day to day life, where recycling has become an integrated part of conomic life, and where the members experience genuine Dionysian release- not the pretend stuff of Hollywood. This is a radically different world well worth looking into and as the author, I'll be pleased to correspond with any/all readers.
