In 1095 Pope Urban II summoned the Christian world to war to secure access to the Holy Land. The Christian army captured Jerusalem, establishing a kingdom that was to last for 200 years. This book aims to bring the confrontation to life, presenting both the European and Arab points of view.

Very handy for some...
A very imformative and well layed out book. I think that this book is better suited for those following a History course in this specific area. It drops many names of places, people and orders into the narrative therefore assuming some prior knowledge. This was very frustrating for me, having not read up on this subject prior to my purchase of this book. However, for someone studying The Holy Crusades for a History course the historical narrative is well outlined, filled with primary historical sources and authentic images to savour. I do feel though that this book is quite biased to the Arab and Islamic world therefore coming to some slightly unbalanced conclusions.
