Product Description

The book includes a new introduction as well as letters to the author from those Sandra interviewed for the book.

Sandra originally wrote the book because she wanted to redeem Marilyn Monroe`s image and also because she knew many of the principals personally including John Springer, Stanley Rubin, Rupert Allan, Milton Greene and others.

Writing the hagiography of Marilyn Monroe (whom Sandra never interviewed) culminates a career of megastar interviewing in which the author-journalist talked to everyone from Alfred Hitchcock to John Lennon. Knowing Hollywood as well as she did assisted Sandra in making determinations and forming conclusions which otherwise might have eluded.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
Sandra Shevey`s Marilyn Monroe biography has been copied but has never been duplicated.

We are proud to put this classic biography back into print.

From the Author
Writing the biography of possibly the greatest (and most unsung) actress of the twentieth century was one of the most fun things I`ve ever done. I had literally to get beneath the skin of this phantom goddess and roll with every punch. After-effects: hard to de-morph.

About the Author
Sandra Shevey has been a journalist and a writer since the late Sixties when she did her first major interview with Liza Minnelli.

She has in total done about 500 major Hollywood interviews, many of them on closed sets and most running for six or seven hours.

She also knew many of the principals in Marilyn`s life and letters from them are included in the book appendix.

Sandra believes the book is a decent assessment of the life of one highly complex person.
