New Proficiency exam.materials4
I have been teaching English as a foreign language for 20 years now, and have seen many changes in teaching and exam. methodologies.
The new format is clearly displayed in this book which is both student and teacher friendly. My students particularly enjoy the Use of English, and the fact there is a word building exercise along with the usual cloze test. The composition paper too is good as there is always an example of a letter, review, report or discursive writing which makes a teacher's life easier when setting homework.
The tests are especially good for setting in class to get students used to the very restricted time limits they have.
All in all, I am very pleased with the book, as are my students.

I have been teaching EFL for more than 20 years and have seen many changes in teaching methodologies and examination formats.
I am very pleased with the new format of the CPE examination and this book is both student and teacher friendly.
The students particularly enjoy battling with the Use of English
tests in the book- especially the word-building and part 3 of the test ewhere one word must fit into 3 different sentences. They say they learn more from these than the usual cloze tests.

They also like to have the real exam format listening.
Alongside the coursebook this book is invaluable as it trains the student to be aware of timing in the exam. and what exactly to expect.
I use it once or twice a week -forbidding them to use the key!(cruel)-but if a student is absent the key can help them catch up.
I certainly would not teach Proficiency without copies of this.
I recommend it highly.
