Academic Tome
This scholarly tome is not to be lightly dipped into. For those with a genuine, academic interest in Chinese history, however, it makes a very good starting place for any avenue of research, giving, as it does, a very good, comprehensive overview of the full span of China's past. Too dry for the casual reader, this book is nevertheless an indispensible feature on any sinologist's bookshelf.
