Product Description

The classic analysis textbook from Burkill and Burkill, now available in the Cambridge Mathematical Library. This straightforward course, based on the idea of a limit, is intended for students of mathematics and physics who have acquired a working knowledge of the calculus and are ready for a more systematic treatment. The treatment given here also brings in other limiting processes, such as the summation of infinite series and the expansion of trigonometric functions as power series. Particular attention is given to clarity of exposition and the logical development of the subject matter. This, combined with the large number of examples included, ensure that this book will appeal to students of analysis.

Customer Reviews

Very well written5
Firstly, please forgive me for my bad English.
Secondly, about this book, I should say that I didn't know a lot about Analysis before reading it, and that I was very reluctant to take the course "Real Analysis II" at my university. But, reading this book was indeed a pleasant surprise: the text is very clear and the proofs are very convincing and nicely done. It really made me change the way I perceived Analysis and as a result I want to learn more...
Don't be afraid by the introduction, I don't think that any knowledge is required to understand this book. In my opinion, this is exactly what a First course in Analysis should be like!
