Brilliant account of what Shakespeare is like on stage now
This is a superb book, a passionate evocation of what it was like to be in a good seat in the stalls for the Shakespeare productions staged in England in the 1990s. Gets to the point and stays there; a powerful analysis of what is distinctive and irreplaceable about English classical theatre and why we must not lose it. All theatregoers should read this book.
