The Structured Oral Examination in Anaesthesia is made up of questions and answers that closely simulate the Royal College of Anaesthetists’ oral examination format. Set up as complete exam papers, the book enables candidates to assess their knowledge accurately and within time limits. The answers are presented thoroughly and clearly, constructed from basic scientific facts, and further explained through the many tables and clear line diagrams. Thorough revision with this book will cover virtually all requirements for anaesthesia oral examinations worldwide. This is an essential aid to study for trainees and a great tool for trainers.

A must for Part 1, very useful for Part 2 as well
It is not easy to anticipate the questions asked for the primary FRCA. As an overseas graduate, I found it particularly difficult to understand the depth of knowledge expected.
I purchased this book to prepare for my final FRCA. But this book would most suite primary FRCA candidates. The topics selected are very popular with examiners, the questions follow a logical sequence and the language used is simple and easy to read.
This book can be used as a companion to preparation for the exams, while reading in more detail from text books, or as a quick reference before your vivas.
I used this exam to revise before my final FRCA VIVA. I would certainly recommend this book to all, but especially for those who want to familiarise themselves with the kind of questions asked, and how to answer them, during the FRCA vivas.
(By the way, I got through)
