A good book!
This AS textbook covers all the sections of the AS course with just the right amount of detail. However, as it was published in 2000 and the specification changed in 2002 it doesn't cover everything you need to know - but it only misses out a few things so it's not too much of a problem! I'd definitely recommend it!
Good but......
This book is brilliant as a supplement to the OCR AS Level course and has simple explanations and notes, but is best used with additional resources and class notes as in some ways it is not detailed enough. I have found the AS Biology course quite difficult and for someone like myself who has a huge ambition to go into medicine a high grade in Biology is essential, therefore it is best to also have the revision guide and plently of other materials!
Essential for an A
Although this is not a particularly "good" book as all the OCR textbooks (Biol and Chem) leave big gaps in your knowledge, it is essential to get an A in the three modules it covers. So if you really are interested in the subject read around it and buy other books to complement this book. Having said this if you were able to recall this book word for word there is NOTHING you couldn't answer on the exam papers.
