Average customer review:Product Description
Renowned professor and author Gilbert Strang demonstrates that linear algebra is a fascinating subject by showing both its beauty and value. While the mathematics is there, the effort is not all concentrated on proofs. Strang's emphasis is on understanding. He explains concepts, rather than deduces. This book is written in an informal and personal style and teaches real mathematics. The gears change in Chapter 2 as students reach the introduction of vector spaces. Throughout the book, the theory is motivated and reinforced by genuine applications, allowing pure mathematicians to teach applied mathematics.

Customer Reviews
Very good book for learning more about linear algebra.
This book is perhaps not suitable for a complete novice to linear algebra, but for those who have some previous knowledge it is invaluable. The book covers almost everything one might want to know about matrices, Gaussian elimination, vector spaces etc. Mr Strang is not only a mathematician but also a very good writer. This book is highly recommended.
Outstanding book.
Great 'second' text. Clarifies connections between linear algebra and other branches of mathematics. Strang takes the reader through the development of the concpets rather than just presenting them.
