From the Publisher
A science fiction classic from a master of the genre

From the Back Cover
When AIVAS - the Artificial Intelligence Voice Address System - was first discovered at Landing, the entire planet of Pern was awed at the knowledge it divulged. All the history of the people of Pern was there. Dragonholders, Lord Holders, and Craftmasters crowded into the tiny inner room to learn the secrets of their beginnings. And AIVAS had other gifts to offer - stored information of old crafts that had been forgotten, of medicine, music and technology.

But the greatest promise AIVAS offered was the chance to rid Pern of Thread forever. All the great ones of Pern began the long and arduous task of learning just how to operate the incredible plan - plan of such daring and epic proportions that both dragons and riders would be put at risk.

ALL THE WEYRS OF PERN is a new history which follows the discoveries made at the end of THE RENEGADES OF PERN. Both stories are part of Anne McCaffrey's world-famous Chronicles of Pern.

Truly the best of the lot...5
What can you say about the book that everyone including the characters have been waiting for. The chance to destroy the menace of thread forever. This amazing mix of science, action and dragons is truly the crowning glory of Anne Mccaffrey saga of Pern which i hope will never end. The books only get better with each passing novel and none of them are anything short of exceptional, though it is easier to identify with some more than others. I loved how this book went from one character to another and was not at any moment overblown or annoying. Even amidst the scientific language i found myself learning along with the peoplt of Pern though i admittedly had more trouble than they. the thing i love the most though is the return to prominence of Jaxom and his beautiful Ruth, without whose help the atempt wouldnt be possible. The only thing I disliked was something terrible that happened in the last few pages and any true fan of Pern will agree with me that it is impossible not to cry at that moment. But despite my sadness and the wishing that it didnt happen it is a marvelous ending, and the tribute accorded to such a life as his was fitting to say the least. The fact that he will never be seen again in the novels except in remembrance is truly unsettling but i wouldnt change it because it is the most perfect ending to such a great book and as the book itself states there is 'a time for any purpose under heaven' I think i wrote the quote right if not bare with me i am writing this far away from my copy and havent woken up yet. All the Weyrs of Pern is a classic and should never be lost...

an excellent climax to the final destruction of thread5
what a book!!. never have i read such an astounding series with characters which have such depth. never have i ever read a book, where i could so easily believe i was there on pern, completely involved with bringing about the destruction of thread.

Great book--a must read!5
I have been a fan of Pern for what seems like forever, though it was only last year. The whole series is incredible, and this book is one of the best yet. I have read every book out in the U.S., and this book fits in with the rest of the series quite well. It creates an incredibly realistic, belivable world, complemented by all the books that have come before, with seemingly every detail filled in. The end of the book will leave anyone who has read even just this book feeling at least a little sad. It certainly leaves a lump in my throat. I found this to be one of the best books in the series, although they are all quite good. Reading it for my fouth time now, and I love it still! I would definetly recomend this book, even if you dont like sci-fi or fantasy.
