Customer Reviews

Not a literary masterpiece, but nevertheless a good yarn!4
I picked up this book because it is set in my home county and the author is local. To be honest, I had very low expectations at the outset and began reading it in an over-critical manner. However, the story, whilst a little far-fetched, is rather good. The author perhaps goes overboard on the dialect, which I found very intrusive and some of the characters were a bit too stereo-typical. But at the end of the book I was surpised to find I'd rather enjoyed it!

It's hardly a literary masterpiece, but as pure easy-going escapism, it does the job nicely.

i was unable to finish reading the book1
I have read and enjoyed a lot of books written by this Author. Many of the books share the same Characters and the style is similar to Catherine Cookson but of a lesser quality.still readable and enjoyable. This book was my first disappointment.I struggled thro' the first one-hundred pages but had to admit defeat and give up.To be brutally honest,it's so boring,i'm surprised it was published.Don't be put of the Author, just this book.
