From the Back Cover
Hope and Jack Langley seem like a couple who have it all. Soon after they marry and move into an idyllic Gloucestershire village, Hope discovers she is pregnant. And, almost immediately, the glamorous Petersens, Henrik and Mandy, appear on the scene as new neighbours. Local rumour about the couple is rife: they are rich, they are Norwegian, they aren't married, they give crazy parties.

Yet to Hope and Jack they seem reassuringly normal and kind, and soon the four of them become close. Before long the Petersens have inveigled their way into every aspect of the young couple's lives. With the birth of their second daughter, the Langleys' happiness seems complete, but appearances can be deceptive.

Customer Reviews

Easy read, warm comfortable feeling book4
This book starts off in the 60's and you get a feel of the era as well. It covers the trials and tribulations of Hope and Jack and their girls right through to early 90's. They are befriended by the Petersens who at first seem as if they only want the best for their new English friends, but soon it becomes apparent that all is not as it seems! A very compelling read, which can be tear jerking at times. I am now a Susan Sallis fan!

Wonderful characters and an excellent storyline.5
This was my first Susan Sallis novel and I was spellbound from start to finish. I didn't want it to end. The characters are so real and the story original, it has led me to enjoy more of Susan Sallis's novels. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
