David Eddings
David Eddings was born in Spokane, Washington, in 1931, and was raised in the Puget Sound area north of Seattle. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1961. He has served in the United States Army, worked as a buyer for the Boeing Company, has been a grocery clerk and has taught college English. He has lived in many parts of the United States. His first novel, High Hunt, was a contemporary adventure story. The field of fantasy has always been of interest to him, however, and he turned to The Belgariad (published by Corgi) in an effort to develop certain technical and philosophical ideas concerning that genre. Eddings currently resides with his wife, Leigh, in north-west America.

Family reunion
After I read "The Belgariad", I longed for more about Garion, Polgara, Silk and the rest of the gang and I must say my wishes were more than granted in "The Malloreon". Garion and Ce'Nedra turned out to be even nicer as adults than as adolescents and the plot is once again very gripping. You really know the characters now and reading "Guardians of the West" was like a family reunion. I loved all those nice character scenes in it and it was very exciting, as well. I read the other four books of "The Malloreon" in very short time and I was very sorry to have finished them. When you really want to finish a story yet feel sorry when you've finished it, you know it's good. And when it comes to that, Eddings is the best!

Guardians of the west
I first started reading David Eddings when I was on holiday in 1990. The book was Pawn of Prophesy. Since then I've read all of his books, including the Mrin Codex! Guardians of the West described for me the importance of sheer loyalty, integrity and love, even though Mandorallan or Silk would cut your heart out soon as look at you and still be polite about it. The battles were graphic enough for you to be totally pulled into the book and the way David and Leigh choreograph all the chapters leaves you reeling in your seat when the book ends. I've read these books four or five times now and they're a treat for me when I start reading them again. Guardians of the West is the book that stands out as the best of them all

GREAT!
After I read the Belgariad (one of my favorite series) I was really sad that there was no more, but then I discovered the Malloreon and I was so happy! I read this book and the other two after it and so far it has met all my expectations and has definetly lived up to the standard that the Belgariad had before it. I look forward to reading further on in this wonderful series!
