This work is set in Austria, 1938. Anne von Korvacs watches in horror as Hitler's tanks roll through the streets of Vienna, amid crowds of cheering supporters. Her embittered ex-husband, now a fervent supporter of the Reich, is among the cavalcade - he is burning with hatred for Anne, seeing her as a symbol of the old Austrian empire he once served. A chance encounter with a British journalist leaves Anne with a secret microfilm that must be smuggled out of the country, and Anne knows that she must forsake her beloved Vienna and with her children flee to Britain. In a thrilling journey that will separate sisters and brothers, parents and children, Anne and her family escape to freedom, to dream of a reunion in far-away London. Mary Jane Staples introduces a cast of gloriously warm characters in this wartime romantic adventure.

Escape to London
Very good book.Ihave read all the Mary Jane Staples books. This was as good as The Adams Family Sagas.Hope their is a follow up, to find out how the the families cope in war time Britain.Cheers MJS,the Makings of another great Family Saga.
Bring Back the Adams Family
Nowhere near as good as other MJS books quite confusing with very little plot, very hard to get into and after it was finished I hadn't a clue what I had read. As an avid MJS reader who has all her books I feel she needs to bring back the Adams family there is so much more about them we would like to know.
escape to london
What a dreadful story this is. Bought as i own 30 odd of her books and i was expecting a 5 star saga. The characters are not inside your head so you do not feel enough for them so wether they escape you do not truley care. but as its MJS you buy it for her last titles lets hope she goes back to london and what she knows best...
