It's 1977 and Jack Sheffield is appointed headmaster of a small village primary school in North Yorkshire. So begins Jack's eventful journey through the school year and his attempts to overcome the many problems that face him as a young and inexperienced headmaster. The many colourful chapters include Ruby the 20 stone caretaker with an acute spelling problem, a secretary who worships Margaret Thatcher, a villager who grows giant carrots, a barmaid/parent who requests sex lessons, and a five-year-old boy whose language is colourful in the extreme. And then there's also beautiful, bright Beth Henderson, who is irresistibly attractive to the young headmaster...Warm, funny and nostalgic, "Teacher, Teacher" is a delightful read that is guaranteed to make you feel better, whatever kind of day you've had.

Warm and uplifting story-telling
The cover suggests if you like Gervase Phinn, you will love this. This is much better.
The novel is the diary of a school year - an alternative log-book, kept by the headmaster, Jack Sheffield, who notes down the funny goings-on that happen from day-to-day - everything he cannot include in the official log.
Jack Sheffield has a delightful style of story-telling, and it transports you back to your own childhood. The writing flows along, which given it is constructed as a `diary' in chapter form, is testament to the writer's ability to keep the story moving along, all held together by the central character of Jack.
A real joy, and I will looking forward to Mr Sheffield's next novel.
Delightful!
This is not my usual type of book as i tend to go for the thriller, blood and gore kind. However, this was bought for me and i think it took me just over 2 days to read - would have taken less but work got in the way! I found it easy to read, enjoyable and quite poingnat at times. Loved every page. Would recommend it to anyone and cannot wait for Mr Sheffield's next book.
Enjoyable reading.
I really enjoyed reading Teacher Teacher, about school life. it made me laugh. I would recommend it to anyone. Very good holiday book! Waiting for Jack's next one.
