From the Back Cover
Facing impossible odds, is this the end for Rogue Squadron?

They are the galaxy's most elite fighting force. And as the battle against the Empire rages, the X-wing fighters risk life and machine to protect the Rebel Alliance. Now they must do the impossible: capture a hostile, fortified world - on their own.

X-WING THE BACTA WAR

While the Alliance Fleet mounts a major campaign against a deadly warlord, Ysanne Isard has seized control of Thyferra, intending to use its precious supply of bacta to destabilize and destroy the New Republic. It falls to Rogue Squadron - undermanned, deprived of Alliance support and even of weapons - to oppose Isard's dangerous designs, defeat her powerful complement of Star Destroyers, and free Thyferra from her iron rule. But when Isard discovers the Squadron's secret base, its ragtag group of pilots must scramble for survival in a winner-take-all battle against Isard's overwhelming and seemingly superior force.

Customer Reviews

The best of the X-Wing novels.5
THE STORY:
Three years after 'Return of the Jedi', Ysanne Isard has taken control of the world of Thyferra, but the fledgling New Republic cannot interfere with a sovereign government. Rogue Squadron resigns their positions and begins a hopeless campaign to bring Isard to justice, throwing their twelve pilots against, amongst other things, the Super Star Destroyer Lusankya.

WHAT'S GOOD:
I loved the idea of this book, with the Rogue slowing building their forces and gathering small victories in an attempt to bring down a far more powerful foe. I could go on for a long time, listing all the good things, but instead I'll just tell you that if you read none of the others, then read this X-Wing book. Look out for cameos by Huff Darklighter (Biggs' dad), Poe, Elscol Loro and Sixtus Quin (all from the X-Wing comics) and Wuher (the bartender in the Mos Eisley cantina).

WHAT'S BAD:
I didn't like the amiguity of Isard's end at all, way too 'The End?'-cliche style (and of course, since the publication of 'Isard's Revenge', we know that our fears of an implausible villain come-back have been realised).

the characters are great and this is a truly great book5
I read this book a few years ago and loved it. I still catch myself reading all the time. I am a person who cannot read many books more that once, but the first 4 books of the star wars:x-wing series is superb.

The best x-wing book around5
This is the best x-wing book around , finally Tycho has been cleared of the charges against him and we can see his piloting skills . It brings into the story Booster Terrik a valuble member of the star wars cast ,if you have read book 3 buy this one now.
