Dad's Army fan Phill Jupitus has selected four of his favourite episodes from the evergreen radio series, starring Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, and Clive Dunn. "The Man and the Hour", 28 January 1974; "My British Buddy", 18 May 1976; "Time On My Hands", 3 August 1976; and "A Soldier's Farewell", 8 April 1975. Diehard Dad's Army fan Phill Jupitus has chosen four fantastic episodes from the sitcom that captured the heart of the nation. In addition, he has written an introductory sleeve note explaining just what makes these four episodes great. As he says, 'There are episodes here you will be familiar with and some you may never have heard, but what I can promise is that they are all achingly funny.' "The Man and the Hour" is the first ever episode of the radio series, in which Mainwaring sets up a troop of Local Defence Volunteers ('Come on Adolf, we're ready for you!'). "My British Buddy" finds Mollie Sugden guest starring as a Walmington inhabitant besotted with the new GIs in town; while "Time On My Hands" finds a German airman snagged by his parachute on the town hall clock. In "A Soldier's Farewell", Mainwaring dreams he is Napoleon at Waterloo, with Wilson an elegant Duke of Wellington. Providing stalwart support to the stars are John Laurie, James Beck, Arnold Ridley, Ian Lavender and Bill Pertwee.

Very Best of Dads Army version 1 Audio CD
Four very good episodes, of one of Britain's favourite situation comedies.
All episodes perfectly described, by Phil Jupitus.
Listening to the CD on holiday, certainly made me laugh - and had all the other holidaymakers around the pool, wishing that they had been able to listen in !
Good clean family entertainment - in a good quality CD, delivered to my own doorstep - what more could I ask.
