Synopsis
An original, full-cast "Doctor Who" drama made especially for audio.

Customer Reviews

It fails on so many levels...1
I was so hoping this would be good but sadly I was to be disappointed. The acting is superb as you would expect from this cast, however the story is just plain and simply... rubbish. the Doctor goes from Time Lord to a god, and throws out everything we've ever known about him along the way. It just doesn't work and shows Doctor Who at it's worst...

A sense of disappointment3
I finally got around to adding this to my collection of DW audio cd's a few weeks ago. I didn't read any of the reviews before but probably would have bought it anyway...

It's great to listen to a story that's been produced specifically for radio / audio and not a TV recording with narration. It's well-produced, the cast are great - John Sessions is clearly having a great time hamming it up outrageously as the badguy - and, sadly that's about as positive as I can be.

The story, after a good start, turns out to be disappointingly weak and the quasi-religious / mythological overtones grate horribly with everything I've ever known about the "Whoniverse". Overall I found myself annoyed by this CD - a fantastic opportunity for the BBC to issue a brand new DW adventure and continue the story outside of the TV series has been wasted. As stated elsewhere, if you want new audio stories stick with the Big Finish Cd's!

Disappointing1
I really wish I'd read some of the reviews before I bought this. With a cast list like this one, I thought it couldn't fail ..... but it does.
If it was called something other than "Doctor Who", it would have been a reasonable piece of SF, but it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the established "Whoniverse".
It's very well made, but too long, and everyone performs well, it's just that the story dosen't work.
If you want a reasonably well crafted, fairly well produced, but slightly dull, piece of audio SF, then fine.
If, on the other hand, you're a fan who wants to hear a new "Doctor Who" story, spend your money on any of the 50 current "Big Finish" CD's, because this is not what you're looking for.
Not a complete waste of money, just not what I was expecting.
