Modern format for traditional Agatha Christie stories
I was surprised when I first listened to this tape. I was expecting a traditional Agatha Christie type format in the manner I was used to hearing. The three stories have been very much updated in terms of the setting of the stories and the language and general setting of the plots. This does not in any way detract from the enjoyment, rather it enhances the quality of the tales, indicating that the original format transfers very easily to a more up to date setting. The acting in all the stories is excellent, and the plots take a very interesting and unexpected turn, particularly towards the end, which is of course what one would expect from the author. I thoroughly recommend this tape, and would offer it for sale as second hand if I didn't know that I would want to play it over and over again in the future!
Mobile phones and internet in a Christie story?
I have no interest in reading Christie-stories which are set in the modern world, and hence I was very disappointed with this CD. Philomel cottage, which is a clever story, now contains mobile phones, internet and modern cars. Stupid and boring. I did not bother to listen to the other two stories, as I knew they also were set in modern day.
I love Christie, and have read every word she ever wrote. This is blasphemi!
