Good insights into the thought of most people in West Africa4
Amos Tutuola takes you on a bizarre, disturbing journey into the Nigerian bush, where there are magicians who put jujus on you, people that transform themselves into animals, and where everyone is a ghost. The world is full of ghosts, and there is so much cruelty and slavery - "this is what hatred did".

The book provides a very interesting insight into the mindset of most people in West Africa, where people believe that the spirits of the dead are constantly interacting with the living, and where "hatred" (and slaving, and the slaving wars) have wrought so much despair. Recommended.

Extraordinary Odyssey4
The narrator is lost in the world of the ghosts and the reader is lost in the world of Amos Tutuola. Travelling between the ghosts' towns, captured and abused by the ghosts, searching for a way home Tutuola produces a vibrant, original book. It is reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland and should be as widely read.
