Absolutely essential for cutting period patterns
This Book is absolutely essential for everyone who has to work in the area of fashion, period dresses and costume researches.
Great inspiration
This book has a lot of sketches of dresses (and the pattern pieces they are made from), fascinating snippets of historical information through quotations, and some plates. It is a rich source of ideas for decoration, and basic pattern shapes. It would be frustrating to try and enlarge the pieces with a view to making the clothes, but should be an excellent inspiration and guide for a seamstress with some experience. It does provide delightful details on clothing, fabric, and thoughts of life and fashion from the various periods. I would have liked more details on accessories, but am very happy with the book.
