Be not afraid of greatness !
Twelfth Night is my favourite Shakespeare play. So after reading "Macbeth" (Actors on Shakespeare) by Harriet Walter (excellent book by the way) i searched for more in the Actors on Shakespeare series and found this book.
Emma Fielding wastes little time on pre-production or rehearsals but dives straight into the play. She unpretentiously, honestly, and humorously guides you through the play, much more from Viola's view point than her own, but touches lightly on her own experiences of playing the role. This book is a thoroughly good read for anyone who loves twelfth night, the theatre, Shakespeare, or is studying the play. The books focuses around Viola's journey within the play (after all Emma Fielding was playing Viola), however Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria and Feste story is covered within the book. Also the book is short and sweet ( I read it in a couple of hours).
I loved reading this book. It helped me appreciate the play better than before. No doubt it won't me long before I am reading the book again soon.
