Snippets of imperfect lifes
We all know life is not perfect and Nancy Lee shows us Snippets of womens lifes who are not perfect - she captures them at their vulnerable moments and portrays the complx way in which the view things in their world and shows so strongly how different womens minds can work.
I loved reading these intimate moments, and was sad when each little story finished i always wanted to delve deeper bit then we would have ended up in 'obvious' narrative territory, as it is, 'Dead Girls' is short sweet and perfectly written.
deserves more attention
Nancy Lee is one of those books you may pick up because of the cover, or because the title stood out to you. I say that because she's not a known name, and as such may be picked out purely on aesthetic in library. Because that's how I found her, and I'm all the better for it. She's quietly poetic, a little morbid, intelligent and darkly comic. Simple moments are blown up, stories unwound before your eyes without so much as a few sentences.
This is a collection of short stories and I hope to see more by her.
Quirky, dark work with great characters
This wonderful collection of short stories explores all sorts of relationships. There is a great deal of humanity in the characters Nancy Lee has created. Highly recommended.
