Blackbird by David Harrower
The latest work from acclaimed playwright David Harrower is an intense and powerful two-hander. The subject matter is dealt with in a way that isn't prurient and the characters are presented as flawed humans, making the issue of older man/young girl relationship morally blurred and interesting. Harrower doesn't judge; he brings us into the drama by showing the long-term effects on two damaged individuals. It's a play to see, but equally to read with its halting/overlapping dialogue. I highly recommend this play to anyone who wants to be moved, challenged, entertained.
