Synopsis
There is a shortage of witches' and coven teachers to address the needs and increasing demands of apprentices. A year and a day is the time required to graduate in the First Degree of initiation. This step-by-step course can be started at any time of the year for seasonal purposes. Covens will buy the book as a tutorial and individuals will buy it to train themselves up to coven status. There is little more to say about the almost immediate success of Cassandra's sales. They are strong because demand for tuition in the magick arts is growing. And because she is both knowledgeable and so accessible that word of mouth keeps pulling in new readers. This new title is sure to raise new witches to the First Degree in covens where there is a desperate shortage of teachers of witchcraft. Yet another reason to believe that this new book will do well. Each module in the book has a learning and practical element and includes an optional further research element to point readers towards development. It is a tour de force of Cassandra Eason.

Customer Reviews

Great for beginners and exprienced alike5
I've been a practising witch (on and off) since 1998, and am always looking for more information and resources to add to my bookshelf. Also, living a busy life, I struggle to find time and to set a structure for my practising.
With Cassandra's book, I've found a pleasant way to learn new things and review forgotten knowledge, as well as a structure to follow. Each of her chapters is followed by a small hands-on activity, which encourages you to get up (or sit down) and do something. I am grateful for its format, and for its contents. I may be familiar with a good deal of the content, but the format it is presented in, as well as the well-developed sequence, make this a great learning book and a resource for beginners and experienced witches alike.
I also should not forget to mention that as her inquisitive mind happily matches my own, I find that she does not glorify one tradition over another, but presents elements from all of them in equal respect.
I would highly recommend this book if you are newer to the Craft, as it will guide you and teach you, without forcing any one particular view on you.

Helpful for a new Pagan/Druid5
I am new on the pagan/druid path and was drawn to the fact the book, A YEAR AND A DAY IN MAGICK by Cassandra Easson, is set out as a week-by-week course and it would take me through a whole year, my first year. If you think that's too much for you can also take any module in isolation or simply use the book as a reference resource as it has over 700 pages and is packed with information.

It doesn't matter what time of the year you start, just open the book at week 1 and begin. You can incorporate festivals as and when they occur in the cycle and these are also in the book. If you're looking for a teaching method that allows you to be flexible, because you can obviously stop and start as you wish and pick and choose which modules you'd like to study, then this book allows you to do this.

For me personally, I find it helps keep me grounded and focused. I'm a solitary so some structure and the right kind of guidance is important.
