This concise, lucid study charts the complex sequence of events we know today as the War of the Roses. In the thematic chapters of the third section the author assesses the motives and relationships of the principal actors; the real character and impact of the Wars of the Roses; and the nature of Yorkist government.

Concise history, wealth of information, but poorly presented
I found this book very useful for my AS-level studies of the Wars of the Roses. The text is rich in detail and a good index makes it easy to find exactly what you're looking for. All of the information is set out in a logical order and the supporting documents displayed in the back of the book (with references in the text) are an excellent resource - I found them extremely useful.
However, while the book provides an excellent read, I can't help feeling that the publishers made no effort whatsoever to make the books exciting to look at. Large blocks of black text on white paper is the extent of their creativity. Despite the helpful index, this is still quite hard on the eye when you're scanning for a particular section. If you compare this to the graphically attractive and colourful alternatives available, it seems rather off-putting. But to be honest, I don't think presentation is the point of this book. As far as useful resources on this period in time go, you will not get much handier than this book. It succeeds in condensing a potentially endless story of dispute and conflict into one-hundred interesting pages that provide an invaluable resource. If you're studying the Wars of the Roses, then this book has my recommendation.
