"York Notes Advanced" should help to make the study of literature more fulfilling and lead to exam success. They should also be of interest to the general reader, as they cover the widest range of popular literature titles. This guide covers "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood.

Customer Reviews

Excellent5
This book is ideal for revision at A level, although make sure you actually read The Handmaids Tale. I found it very useful, and it made interesting points.

Loved it4
A religious state reacts to its falling birthrate by turning on its female citizens. The Government forces its population to revert to an Old Testament culture, thus the handmaid who is expected to bear children for childless ruling class.

A Book Club Disappointment2
This title was one of the selected books in our book club and I was really looking forward to reading it! However, after a strong start the writer appeared to not only lose direction but managed to lose most of our book club too.
Sorry to say - I can't recommend this book.
