Product Description

A stunningly repackaged edition of this unforgettably stirring wartime tale of passion, heartbreak and tragedy from the bestselling author of A Scent of Lavender and The Willow Pool. From love springs tragedy, from tragedy comes hope! It is 1931 and Rowangarth, Yorkshire is a rural arcadia for sewing-maid Alice Hawthorn and young gamekeeper Tom Dwerryhouse. For Julia Sutton, daughter of Alice's employer, it is also a time of unfolding love for the handsome doctor, Andrew MacMalcolm. But with the outbreak of war their lives will be changed for ever! As Tom and Andrew volunteer to fight for King and Empire so too do Alice and Julia as VAD nurses on the Western Front. All find trials that will test them -- and their love -- to the limit as passion and hope are tempered by heartbreak and sorrow.

I'll Bring You Buttercups5
This is the best book I have ever read, just can't put it down. I have only just discovered Elizabeth Elgin and this is the third book of hers that I have read. I can't wait to read the follow up books about the Sutton family and all the other books that she has written, do hope she decides to write more books set in the war, just brilliant stories and I feel I am there with them.

An excellent spellbinding read!!5
This book paints a vivid picture of life at the start of the 20th century and during the first world war. Throughout the book I felt that I was there and could imagine the scenes which the words painted. A wonderful storyline which means that you can't put the book down. I heartily recommend this to romantic and hard headed people alike. The way that the relationships and personalities interact does make you think about how you as an individual treat others and your effect on them.
