Synopsis
The Extraordinary World Of Yes celebrates the stunning achievements of Yes as one of the greatest bands in the history of rock and places some important sign posts along the road towards a better understanding of the mastery behind its amazing music. The central theme in The Extraordinary World Of Yes is to address the implicit question: What makes Yes so outstanding and what is it that is truly significant about the band and its music? One of the aims along the way is to highlight the positive and often profound messages to be found in the substantial musical output of Yes over a career that has lasted more than thirty-five years and is still flourishing. What are great Yes songs such as "Roundabout", "Yours Is No Disgrace" and "Close To The Edge" really about? How did Yes go about creating such classic music and what are the keys to appreciating and understanding it? These questions and many more are answered in The Extraordinary World Of Yes, backed up with quotes from the members of Yes themselves in an unfolding sequence focusing on the exceptional Yes musicians, the fascinating Yes history, the remarkable Yes music and the brilliant Yes concerts.

Customer Reviews

excellent introduction to the band5
This book is informative and 'scholarly' and written by someone who cares about Yes. (Not just a journo choosing them as a worthy subject.)And as a long term Yes fan myself that's something I really appreciate. And when any criticism is given it's coming from the right place.

The in-depth analysis of the songs only makes me want to know MORE about them. I really wish Jon Anderson would write a book about his personal journey, his philosophies, his visions. The man absolutely fascinates me.

'The Extraordinary World of Yes' looks like a psychology textbook...which is unusual for a rock book. The lay-out and chapter organisation is first class. Only wish the publishers had put in pictures and album covers.

But as a 'textbook' on Yes it's marvellous.

Yes is very readable5
This was interesting reading for me- a fan of 'Yes' for some time. It provided interesting details of their history and highlighted the band's impressive achievements. It was well written. Definitely worth the purchase.
