Exceptional cookbook
Sorry to add to the chorus of praise but this book really is remarkable - - don't quite know why! I am a cookery book addict -- I have shelves-full, all of which looked wonderful at the time of buying but very, very few of the recipes I hve tried have made it into my everyday cooking. I bought this book recently, along with a couple of other veggie books, because we had a vegetarian au pair coming to work for us and, although we were committed carnivores ourselves at the time, I thought I'd like to learn a few recipes for her. Well, almost every recipe we have tried out of this book (about 12 so far) has been (a) delicious and (b) easy; we now eat vegetarian 99% of the time from choice as a result and my food bills have gone right down! Interestingly, the other two veggie books I bought, including one with a very similar title from a different publisher, have proved complete washouts and despite repeated read-throughs I've only used once each. Honestly, after literal years of wasting my money on one glossy cookbook after another I can tell you that this one is a class apart.
from basic to brilliant
this book is really special, although not a student i appreciate cooking on a budget and love the way this book recognises that food doesn't have to break the bank to be tasty. simple recipes for the beginner,to brilliant recipes once you've got the hang of it.my favourites are, pumpkin goulash, curries from scratch, and lentil and pepper bake
I love this!!
I have discovered so many delicious recipes in this little book that I always await the weekend in anticipation to have the chance to cook something from here (sadly, no time on week nights for serious cooking - but if I could, I'd love to eat the things here every day!) Everything is easy and quick to make, but some recipes require special ingredients that you might not be able to get in your corner shop. Before I discovered this little book, my dinners consisted either of rice with fried vegetables or pasta with stir-in tomato sauce... not exactly the most exciting veggie dishes on the planet! But the Vegetarian Student Cookbook enabled me to try new dishes that taste good, don't cost a fortune and are easy to make too.
