About the Author
Peter Singer is Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at the University Center for Human Values, Princeton University. He is the author of Animal Liberation, first published in 1975, and is widely credited with triggering the modern animal–rights movement. His Practical Ethics is one of the most widely used texts in applied ethics, and Rethinking Life and Death received the 1995 National Book Council′s Banjo Award for non–fiction. He was the foundation president of the International Association of Bioethics.

A comprehensive collection of essays on ethics
Rather than an encyclopedia on ethics, Peter Singer, himself one of the most controversial authors in contemporary philosophy, has compiled a number of easy-to-understand essays on issues in moral philosophy and ethics. The range of topics is agreeably wide and will provide beginning (or advanced) philosophy students with a solid background. Whether you agree on everything Singer says and writes or not, you will have to agree that this book is indeed a very useful one.
