Focuses mainly on extrabiblical sources
This book doesn't really get going until after the first few chapters. It's main aim appears to be to demonstrate that the biblical narrative is reliable, rather than providing a history of Israel as shown in the Bible (which is what the title implies).
For those interested in reliability of history in the Bible, it would probably be a good read, but I was after a general history of Israel- so I was a little dissapointed.
It's very expensive as well which didn't help!
