Customer Reviews
For big Resident Evil Fans and of the horror genre!
I have been a big Resident Evil fan ever since I bought the first game for the PSX. This book is well written, and covers nearly every point in the game, following Chris & Rebecca, and Jill & Barry alternately. Unfortunately I thought this book was too much like a walkthrough to the game than a novel to it. I gave too much detail into where doors and locations were in the game, although at some points I was impressed how much the book followed the game and how detailed it was, I then started to grew sick of it almost following it exactly. Perry is a good writer and she knows Resident Evil well. She fills in the gaps which the game left out with accuracy and with some humour. This book would be for big Resi fans like me, and those who have never heard of it. People in between who just "like" the game may get bored after the first few chapters as they know what happens, but because I am a big Resi fan, I thought it was enjoyable to read instead of playing.
brilliant
this book is exelent better then the game itself.
the book is just as puzzling as the game and is also kind of a walk - through as it tells you exactly that and were they find the sord and shield keys and stuff like that in great detail. the book is exactly like the game but more story telling so you know whats going on a little better than the game.
i think that this book was unable to put down and a must read to all the resident evil fans. i just can't wait for the film to come out!!!
a riveting read
I suppose I am an older reader in comparison to the targeted age group, around 14-16 I think. Although it says on the back of the book that it is meant for mature readers you can tell that the fan base is for teenage gamesplayers. Having said this the book was brilliant, I haven't played the first game because I don't have a PS but I have played the other three and loved them, so the story was new to me and I was hooked. The puzzles aren't really concentrated on which is a good thing but the plot really shines through and reveals a new character Trent, who is still a mystery to me as I haven't read the next few books yet but I definitely will I've got all the other four on order now. If you've read anything like Tom Clancy or Michael Crichton you'll be a little dissapointed as the writing isn't up to that quality but I gurantee if you liked the games you'll love the book(s). It just needed to be a little longer, that's my only gripe.
